Making Juvenile Justice Local - National Trends and Implications for Neighborhood-Based Organizations.

The JJWG and NYJJI will hold a joint meeting in New York City on July 25th from 12:30pm - 5:00pm ET.

This will be an extraordinary opportunity to meet in the South Bronx with directors and youth from neighborhood-based organizations, as well as with researchers from John Jay School of Criminal Justice.  Community Connections for Youth (CCFY) will be our host.  We will discuss decentralization of juvenile justice services and the building of local capacity to engage justice-involved youth.  Come from far and wide to learn about work that is informing the country.

Speakers include:

  • Ruben Austria, Executive Director of Community Connections for Youth
  • Nancy Jacobs, Executive Director Emeritus, Criminal Justice Research and Evaluation Center at John Jay College of Criminal Justice
  • Clinton Lacy, Deputy Commissioner, NYC Department of Probation will discuss the national trend towards making juvenile justice local and Nancy's new research on CCFY's efforts to build capacity of NBOs to work with justice-involved youth - the challenges, the opportunities, and the surprises.
